Baby girl-
You just turned eighteen months old, and I am amazed at the big girl you have become. First of all, you seemed to have shot up overnight, so that now you can tiptoe enough to pull up on the counter and peek your gorgeous blue eyes over the rim! We have now had to begin baby-proofing round #2, since now your hands can reach places a little higher than before.
Your vocabulary has also increased lately, and seemingly overnight as well. You yell "Da-eee" and "Mommy" with gusto, ask to "go ousside", answer "k" for okay, say "I dunno" for many reasons, and of course, my favorite, say "I yuv you". Ahh, sheer bliss. However, there are still many things for which you only babble, leading you to frustration and fits when mama and daddy don't understand you. I love the way you've learned to drop down really slowly to the tile floor (so you don't hurt yourself) and then proceed to lay down and kick and scream. I have to be careful not to laugh so I don't encourage you to do it all the time, but good lawd, it is funny. You are a funny little bug.
You give hugs and kisses all the time now, and I think it is my favorite thing you do. You even grab your baby doll and give her kisses too! There is nothing that makes my day brighter than you running toward me with your lips puckered, going "mmmmm", and then laying a big smooch on me. Even better is that I can ask you for a kiss and you'll interrupt whatever activity is enchanting you at the moment, and do it!! For this, I am a sucker, and for future reference, it will likely let you get away with lots of things...
You have started running everywhere, as fast as your little legs will take you, and that is a sight to see. Sometimes though, your legs don't move as fast as you think they can and you end up face down, on the floor, usually with another bruise to add to the ones from the day before. You run into things too, because you're so busy focusing on whatever it is you want that you get tunnel vision and are completely oblivious to anything else that lies in your path. You either have to stop doing this or mama and daddy will have to make your new room completely padded so you don't hurt yourself. Just this past week, you've run into the door jamb in the bathroom, the secretary in the entryway, and met the coffee table with your ribs - owie! You are one tough kiddo.
Your new fascination is fish, and just yesterday I took you to the new Children's Museum, where you delighted in their fish tank and the hundreds of paper mache fish hanging from the ceiling. No matter what you were doing, you would stop and run over the see the "fishy!" every 10 minutes or so. We got you a betta yesterday, appropriately named "Eemo" as every fish a toddler sees is, of course, Nemo. I never knew one could be so entranced with a fish, but you never cease to amaze me.
K, you are the light of our lives, and we love you so much. Your daddy and I are never more proud than when we look at the amazing little monster we've created! I look forward to every second with you to come...
I yuv you too, to the moon and back--
Mama
