Yup folks, I'm still working on Riley. I promise I'm going to get her done!! I'm waiting on a couple balls of yarn to greet me in the mail for the finishing touches, and I'll post pics of her in all her finished glory!!
Life and the new home have been getting somewhat in the way of my knitting time lately... I think I've finally finished painting/decorating the guest bathroom, save a couple of essentials, and then my hubby and I have been test-driving boats so we'll be ready for the summer on the lake. It's kind of hard to knit on a boat when your husband has to constantly rev it up to see how fast it will go!! (Hello motion-sickness??!!)
Anyhoo, send me even faster knitting vibes, as baby Riley is anxiously awaiting to make her appearance. I need to finish her blankie before she shows up!! Have a fabulous week!!!

must...knit...faster!
I'm still knitting away on Riley, but time is running out! She's due to be born on April 8th, and my needles are smokin' from all the moss stitch going on! Maybe her mom will consider being overdue?? (kidding) Plus - I still have to add the second part of the design - and no, I'm not saying what that will be...
Ballerina top is temporarily on hold as I try to finish the blanket. It's so hard because I really want to finish that too, but ya know, gotta finish Riley first. I don't think I care for projects with deadlines (I don't think I like deadlines period).
Anyhoo, just a little post about what's going on in the knitting front. There are no project pics yet, but here's a pic of our new baby, Ani. Isn't she gorgeous??!!
Ode to Spring
The sun is out, the sky is blue
as the birds begin to sing.
The trees are budding, the flowers bloom-
oh! I love thee spring!!
But there is more than nature
on my mind, I must admit.
There are thoughts of all the bright and fresh
new things that I can knit!!
The projects I began in winter
still call to me at night.
"You must completely finish us -
we're not going without a fight!"
And so I knit, I must continue
on the works I've started.
If I don't I know my needles
will be broken-hearted.
So knit and purl and purl and knit,
'til finished with these things.
And until then I'll be here yearning
for all new knits for spring!!
Spring is in the air...
I looooooove spring - it's by far my favorite season. And today was beautiful in New Braunfels, Texas: 80 degrees, sunny, gorgeous. Lovely, really. It also means the coming of fresh-picked spring yarns, and I can't wait!! Of course, I've got plenty of knits still hanging on from the cold of winter. All the reason to knit even faster!!
In lieu of progress pics, I'm posting another new passion - needlework. I've always adored those antique needlepoint pillows and samplers, and since there are no stitchers in my family, I've decided to make my own heirlooms! The one I'm working on currently is based on a Pennsylvania dutch sampler from the 1800s. When this is completed, I'll start my next project, a needlework roses pillow with soft, faded yarns to make the work appear more aged. It's going to be so pretty.
