Sickypoo at Home with Mama

I'm at home with aforementioned pukey-puke, who is napping right now and has held down her water, jell-o, and bananas so far.  I hope she's better soon - it's so sad to see her feeling puney.

Today is dh's bday and I just took his cakes out of the oven so the house smells divine.  Mmmmmm...  I'll try and take pics later before it's devoured.

I'm about halfway done on the Mickey skirt, and about to run out of yarn, so I'll be heading to Hobby Lobby later, baby girl willing, to pick up some more.  It's really cute, and big sis is dying to wear it, so I need to crank this thing out already.  I'm ready to cast on for something for me, so I might venture down to the Yarn Barn later if G does okay after her nap.  I'm drooling just thinking about it!  *fingers crossed*

***update***

I made the trek to Yarn Barn, only to find a sign on the door that says "Closed on Mondays for the Summer".  Grrreeeeaaatt.  At least Hobby Lobby was open so I could get my yarn for Mickey.

Progress Vs. Pukeness

I'm trying to finish this skirt, I swear!  The knitting gods are against me, it seems, as my efforts are thwarted in the wee morning by an early waking baby girl, and then the rest of the day by the wee girl's puking.  Um-hmm.   Her royal pukeness strikes again.

We Are Family

I just spent the past 40 minutes shamelessly surfing knitting blogger sites that I haven't visited in a while, mostly due to Big Sis and Lil Sis.  It reminded me of the summer I discovered knitblogging, one in which I spent hours every day knitting, blogging, lurking...  *sigh*  Such bliss.  It also was a revelation.  Over the past five years, I've experienced more than just projects with my fellow knitbloggers - I've experienced their lives and they in turn, have experienced mine.  I've been a part of engagements, weddings, births, empty nests, deaths, travels.  I've laughed, cried, gasped at many of the things I've read or the comments I've received.  And I refuse to believe that knitblogging is dead. 

It's always been about so much more than the yarn or the stitches.

As knitters, we share more than just a common thread.

We are family.

WIP

Here's my progress on Hey Mickey:

I decided to downsize my needles a tad to really emphasize the pleating, so this might take me a little longer than planned.  That's okay though - it's still moving along nicely and I'm not bored yet.  The yarn is soft, but you can tell it's not a natural fiber - it just doesn't slide across my fingers the way that wool or cotton does... 

I'm in!

Hey Mickey!!

I cast on last night for this rockin' skirt for big sis.  She's kinda my skirt girl, so I thought it was rather fitting to make her a skirt.  I'm making it out of *gasp!* acrylic Caron So Soft that I had in my stash.  I figure any stash-buster is justifying and hey, she's three.  What does she care?? 

I've got a seminar today and am planning to sneak my WIP in my bag to knit during breaks... hopefully they're offered!  Progress pics to soon follow-

Decisions, decisions

I'm trying to decide what to knit next... I'd like to finish some UFOs, although the tempation of a new knit is tugging as well...  hmmmmmmm.

Possible UFOs to finish:  knit monkey toy (need more yarn), somewhat cowl, ballerina sweater, kid mohair lace scarf

Possible newbies:  anything from Kim Hargreaves (I'm thinking ahead to fall, when I'll need cardigans to layer) - I love New Beginnings and Heartfelt; big sis is begging for mama to knit her something to wear
